Garage Sales

We have a neighborhood-wide garage sale in the spring and fall. The sales are held rain or shine on the dates described below, starting at 8 AM.

Fall – the second Saturday of October.

Spring – the first Saturday in May unless that is Mother’s day weekend. Then it is the second Saturday in May.

How does it work? Residents who want to participate put for sale items in their driveway; just drive the streets and look for sales. Be alert! there are many shoppers and children.

The Neighborhood Association advertises on Craig’s List and Nextdoor. We include a map with addresses on this website so shoppers can locate sellers. Sellers can register online or by clipping and completing the registration form from the newsletter and dropping it in the Association mailbox. We suggest a $4 donation to help cover the cost of new Garage Sale signs.

Easter Egg Hunt

The hunt is normally scheduled for Sunday afternoon 2 weeks before Easter. It is free for families who are current on their dues and $3 for others. This helps cover the cost of the supplies. The newsletter, this web site, and our Facebook group have details as Easter approaches. If you would like to get involved, email the Association President at

July 4 Parade

Decorate your bikes or wagons or just wear red, white and blue and join us for the Northwood July 4 parade, followed by refreshments and a chance to meet more neighbors. The newsletter and this web site are updated with the details as July 4 approaches.

National Night Out

The Neighborhood Association usually doesn’t plan any formal National Night Out events; we encourage everyone to get outside and meet their neighbors…and to plan your own block party or other event to meet your neighbors!

Yard of the Month

From March through November a Yard of the Month is chosen. The winner has a sign placed in the yard, is noted in the newsletter and if their dues are current, they receive a gift certificate (usually to a local nursery but that can change at the discretion of the Board). We always need someone to help choose the Yard of the Month. If you would like to get involved, email the Association Secretary at

Holiday Lights contest

The December Yard of the month is chosen by Northwood neighbors. Vote for the Children’s Choice and Best Yard display! The newsletter and this web site will have details as the holiday season approaches
